The Dallas Cowboys’ season officially ended last week, but really, the season went down the drain when Tony Romo got injured in Week 2 with the left shoulder injury. But since being mathematically eliminated, where the Cowboys will pick in the 2016 NFL Draft has been the most important topic regarding the team. In Week 16, with a loss to the Buffalo Bills, and the Baltimore Ravens beating the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cowboys are now slated to pick fourth in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys are now 4-11 and with the Ravens winning, Baltimore is now 5-10. When 2016 rolls around, the Cowboys will get back Romo, a healthy Dez Bryant, and Orlando Scandrick. Getting back arguably their three best players will be huge, but the Cowboys still have a ton of needs. And by moving up in the draft, the Cowboys will be able to fill those needs.

Now slated to pick fourth in the draft, the Cowboys could go in a variety of directions. In my opinion, quarterback, wide receiver, defensive end, and cornerback are the biggest needs for this team. That said, guys like Jared Goff, Paxton Lynch, Laquon Treadwell, Jalen Ramsey, and Vernon Hargreaves could all be realistic options.

One other important thing is that with the loss and the Ravens’ win, the Cowboys, as of now, will be able to pick in front of Baltimore in every draft. Given that Ravens’ general manager Ozzie Newsome is one of the best talent evaluators in football, the Cowboys will be able to pick in front of him in each round.

Just think back to two years ago, when the Steelers drafted Ryan Shazier. The Cowboys were slotted right after, and Shazier was going to be their pick. There’s still a week left of football, but the Cowboys are sitting pretty with the 4th pick in the draft behind the Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns, and the San Diego Chargers.
