Round 4 (132nd overall): Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU
With the Cowboys fourth round draft pick in this mock draft I decided to take a player that will be Terrance Williams replacement in 2017.
I have seen Malachi Dupre ranked as high as the second round, but I currently have a fourth round grade on him. Thankfully, I'm not alone. Draft analyst Matt Miller currently has Dupre ranked 138th, which reconfirms my own ranking of the former LSU WR.
Dupre's draft stock is mainly affected because of the run first mentality of LSU's offense and the poor QB play that he has endured during his time with the Tigers. Make no mistake though, he is a talented wide receiver that should be able to step in and do everything that Terrance Williams did for the Cowboys offense.
At 6'4″, 190, Malachi Dupre fits the criteria the Cowboys like in their WRs. He is one of the better blocking receivers in the 2017 draft class and has the speed to challenge defenses down the field in the passing game. He is a natural hands catcher, but struggles with consistency catching the ball in the middle of the field.
If Dupre can live up to his potential, he can be one of the better receivers in the entire 2017 draft class and has a chance to be a #1 WR in the NFL.
