Round 6 (212th overall): Joe Williams, RB, Utah
In the sixth round of my pre-combine mock draft I decided to add a little depth to the running back position for the Dallas Cowboys with the selection of Joe Williams.
Williams would make an excellent complementary/change of pace back to Ezekiel Elliott. He would likely take over the role of the departed Lance Dunbar and is more of a complete running back then Dunbar could ever hope to be.
Williams isn't the biggest RB at just 5'11”, 205, but he doesn't shy away from contact when running between the tackles. His biggest asset is his speed and he is a threat to take it to the house anytime the ball is in his hands.
I believe Joe Williams would make a good backup for Ezekiel Elliott and could fill in a few games if needed. He can catch the ball out of the backfield, contribute on special teams, but he will probably struggle in pass protection due to his size.
All in all, Joe Williams is a player that I really like in the sixth round and I think he can fill a lot of different roles for the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie.
