At this time last year, the coaching staff for the Dallas Cowboys were in Mobile, Alabama  coaching the North squad for the 2016 Senior Bowl. This year however they are in Florida coaching the 2017 Pro Bowl, probably wishing they were back in Mobile.

It’s just a huge advantage to get to coach these incoming prospects. It really gives the coaches the opportunity to put these players through drills and get a head start on the evaluation process.

I mean, it worked seemed to work out pretty well for the Cowboys last year and probably helped with the decision to draft Dak Prescott, even though he was on the South squad.

Speaking of Prescott, he took to Twitter earlier this week and offered his advice to some of these Senior Bowl participants.

Dak Prescott on Twitter

Senior Bowl is this Week: DON’T TAKE A Meeting, Practice REP, or WalkingThrough the Lobby Lightly. You’re Being Evaluated

It’s definitely advice that these players need to take to heart. Not only for the Senior Bowl, but for the entire draft process. Everything they do between now and the NFL Draft will be heavily scrutinized and evaluated.

The 2017 Senior Bowl is jampacked full with potential prospects that should be on the Dallas Cowboys radar and with no other football games on TV this weekend, it should give you a reason to tune in.

Fellow Staff Writer, Kevin Brady, identified 5 potential prospects for the Cowboys earlier this week, but I wanted to share with you some of the players I will personally be paying close attention to as well.

To simplify things, I split the players up based on which squad they were playing on and by position. Use the arrows to see the players on the North and South teams that I think should be on the Cowboys radar this weekend.

It will be interesting if he is still on the board at 28 when the Cowboys are set to draft. It would be hard to pass up adding a player as talented as Howard.

If Corey Davis is there? And OJ Howard?

What to do… what to do…

Corey Davis would be my choice.

Every time I hear Romo wore out the #Cowboys defense with Rico Gathers on the scout team I think a TE pick early in ’17 is even less likely.

          • Brian Martin

I saw that earlier today too. I’m skeptical Rico Gathers will ever be a starting TE in the NFL. I think the best that we can hope for from him is him developing into a solid backup.

    A match up nightmare

Absolutely, all these players would bring energy efficiency and enthusiasm to the Cowboys, in the organization quest for a Lombardi Trophy in 2017.

    • Brian Martin

      I think so too
