Did you happen to watch the 2020 Senior Bowl? Maybe you followed the going on's in Mobile throughout the week in practice leading up to the game? It's one of the bigger events of the offseason as far as scouts and NFL teams are concerned, and the Dallas Cowboys are no exception. They like to stockpile Senior Bowl talent and there's no reason to believe that will change this year.
Zack Martin, Dak Prescott, Michael Gallup, Tony Pollard, and Cedrick Wilson are just a few of the players the Dallas Cowboys have drafted recently who participated in the Senior Bowl. They seem drawn to players who participate in this event and like using this tool to acquire talent. That is why I decided to put together a list of potential players who could be on their radar.
Let's take a look…
Defensive Tackle
Neville Gallimore (6'2″, 304), Oklahoma
If the Dallas Cowboys are looking for a 3-tech to replace Maliek Collins, Neville Gallimore is their guy. He's arguably been one of the most impressive players throughout the week in Mobile and without a doubt plays a position of need.
Davon Hamilton (6'4″, 327), Ohio State
If you've read any my work here recently, then you already know Davon Hamilton is one of my “pet cats” for the Dallas Cowboys. I absolutely love his skill set as a 1-tech and I believe he is exactly what the Cowboys need at the position.
EDGE
Terrell Lewis (6'5″, 258), Alabama
The Dallas Cowboys could use somebody to start opposite DeMarcus Lawrence and Terrell Lewis is someone they could have an eye on. He has the size and athletic ability Mike McCarthy has said they're looking for in defensive players.
Jason Strowbridge (6'4″, 267), North Carolina
Jason Strowbridge has been one of the biggest surprises in Mobile. He's been one of the most impressive EDGE/interior players and has dominated in one-on-one's because of his physicality, strength, and hand usage. His skill set and versatility makes him an intriguing player.
Safety
Jeremy Chinn (6'3″, 219), Southern Illinois
Jeremy Chinn is just one of the small school safeties who has made a name for himself in Mobile. He not only looks the part, but has proven he's not out of place among some of the bigger school prospects. He opened up a lot of eyes with his surprising coverage skills.
Kyle Dugger (6'0″, 217), Lenoir-Rhyne
Like Jeremy Chinn, Kyle Dugger caught the attention of the scouting community with his performance in Mobile. He has improved his draft stock quite a bit and could find himself as one of the top drafted players at his position come April.
Cornerback
Troy Pride Jr. (5'11” 193), Notre Dame
Troy Pride would be a little undersized for the previous coaching regime, but I believe Mike McCarthy will look past the measurements in order to find football players. Pride has been the best CB in Mobile this past week and as such has improved his draft stock.
A.J. Green (6'1″, 199), Oklahoma State
A.J. Green was not only one of the bigger cornerbacks in Mobile, but also performed as one of the best. He didn't have the same kind of week as Troy Pride, but he definitely improved his draft stock and caught the eye of the scouting community.
Wide Receiver
Denzel Mims (6'3″, 206), Baylor
Denzel Mims was arguably the most impressive WR throughout the week in Mobile. He proved to be a better route rather than many expected and was a handful for any CB due to his God-given speed and ability to dominate at the catch point. His draft stock has skyrocketed.
Collin Johnson (6'6″, 221), Texas
Collin Johnson is someone who could add some much-needed size to the Dallas Cowboys receiving core. His size and strength are difficult for any CB to handle one-on-one and he proved to be more fluid in and out of his breaks than many believed. Creating separation on his own was no problem.
K.J. Hill (6'0, 192), Ohio State
If the Dallas Cowboys are looking for someone to replace Randall Cobb in the slot, K.J. Hill is a guy they may be keeping tabs on. His quickness and ability to change directions on a dime made him nearly impossible to cover in Mobile.
Tight End
Adam Trautman (6'5″, 251), Dayton
Adam Trautman not only has the size of an NFL TE, but the skill set of one as well. His talents were on full display throughout the week in Mobile and convinced a lot of scouts the small school TE is more than capable of starting at the next level. He was equally impressive as a blocker or receiver.
Stephen Sullivan, LSU
Dallas Cowboys fans have been pretty vocal about adding a LSU TE, but Stephen Sullivan isn't the name being mentioned. His blocking needs work, but his receiving ability and 85 1/8 wingspan both impressed in Mobile. He is somebody the Cowboys could target later in the draft.
Specialist
Rodrigo Blankenship, K, Georgia and Tyler Bass, K, Georgia Southern
If the Dallas Cowboys are looking to draft a kicker they probably couldn't go wrong with either Rodrigo Blankenship or Tyler Bass. Both are more than capable of upgrading the Cowboys kicking game and solidifying the position for years to come.
