The Dallas Cowboys have selected Offensive Tackle Josh Ball with a 4th-round pick, 138th overall, in the 2021 NFL Draft. Ball has spent the last two seasons at Marshall University.
This compensatory pick was awarded to the Cowboys after losing DE Robert Quinn in free agency last year. Quinn turned his strong 2019 season into a lucrative contract with the Chicago Bears, which now benefits Dallas.
Streak is over. Cowboys go offense at last, selecting former Marshall tackle Josh Ball at No. 138 overall. They opened draft with six straight defenders.

Ball started his college career at Florida State but was suspended in 2018 for an accusation of dating violence. He left FSU and spent a year at Butler Community College before joining Marshall in 2019.
The Cowboys are hoping to have their full veteran cast at offensive tackle this year with Tyron Smith and La'el Collins coming back from injury, plus free agent signing Ty Nsekhe at swing tackle. But Ball brings raw talent for development and perhaps upgrades over Brandon Knight and Terence Steele in that area.
Welcome to the Cowboys, Josh Ball!
Would have rather had D’Ante Smith who went one pick later. Hope he keeps his nose clean but he looks like a big mean dude.
I see potential for him to be a Swing Tackle. Nice pick for Dallas. Let’s hope a S comes sometime today
Another guy with behavior problems I don’t understand
The dallas cowboys are having one of the worst drafts that I can remember in a long aas time drafting playerswith major attitude problems players that are injured and had surgery. I don’t understand what they are thinking this year Dallas has passed on alot of good players to take alot of players with alot of question Mark’s this has been a terrible draft this year .
I believe we’re seeing the beginning of an “Attitude Era (Error?)” in Dallas.
This team has been too complacent, too coddled, too accepting of losing for most peoples’ tastes. All of these guys seem to bring an attitude on the field and off of it.
I really don’t understand this pick…. Everybody I seen with draft boards had this guy as a round 6 or 7 talent!! I would have chosen D’Ante Smith before Ball, at least he had a 3rd or 4th round grade on him!! But I guess we should’ve expected it, they’ve been making questionable picks this whole draft other than Jabril Cox, so I guess this pick shouldn’t be a surprise!!
