The Dallas Cowboys passing attack produced huge numbers under first-year Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore in 2019. Dak Prescott finished second in passing yards (4,902) and fourth in touchdown passes (30). Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup each had over 1,100 yards, and veteran slot receiver Randall Cobb had almost 900 yards himself.
Once Cobb went to the Houston Texans in free agency he left a hole in the Cowboys receiving core. It would be filled early in the NFL Draft when dynamic Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb fell into the Cowboys lap at 17.
Lamb is coming off of a spectacular junior season at Oklahoma in which he registered 62 receptions for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns while receiving first-team All-Big 12 and Consensus All-American honors. However, even with his impressive collegiate credentials, Lamb is preparing relentlessly for his first NFL season.
Cooper, the Cowboys’ WR1, is known for being one of the best route runners in the NFL, and it seems like Lamb is trying to be looked at in that same way. Back in May, Lamb posted a video of himself on his Instagram working on his route running. About a week later, an even more impressive clip of Lamb showed him working on his hand-eye coordination as well as being explosive coming out of his breaks, which are very important attributes for any receiver.

Earlier this week, Cowboys fans everywhere got a little something to get excited about. Working out in a back yard, and sporting a Cowboys helmet, Lamb gave a glimpse of what it’s going to be like when he hits the field. His discipline, change of direction, and start to stop quickness were on full display.

Lamb’s ability to play both in the slot and on the outside, much like Cooper, gives the Cowboys a plethora of ways to attack in the passing game. One thing is for certain, Lamb is putting in the work to live up to and even surpass the high expectations placed on him.
