The 2020 NFL season is proceeding with immense caution, as we remain the middle of a global health pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Recently, the NFL and NFLPA agreed to daily COVID-19 testing to start training camp in an effort to mitigate any team outbreaks like we’ve already seen in Major League Baseball. Well, through the early stages at least, the Dallas Cowboys remain clear of any positive tests.
Of course, all of this is fluid and subject to change daily, but the fact that no one has brought the virus with them into camp yet is a positive sign. Hopefully, the camp environment will create a pseudo bubble of a sorts which will allow them to practice safely.
But at this point it’s a whole lot of hoping and praying that they make it through this season scott-free. We have no way of predicting the future, but optimism remains the theme around the league which is hoping to start the regular season on time.
NFL players do have until August 3rd to opt out of the 2020 season due to health concerns, pushing their contracts back a year. While opting out would not allow them the chance to earn a salary this season, all players would earn a loan between $150,000 – $350,000 depending on their risk category.
