The Dallas Cowboys be grudgingly lost Ron’Dell back in September when the Indianapolis Colts plucked him off the practice squad, signing him to their 53-man roster. However, he’s now back where it started after they claimed him off of waivers Wednesday afternoon.
Carter became subject to the waiver wire after being released by the Colts on Tuesday. The Dallas Cowboys with a 2-7 record held the No. 3 overall waiver priority and put in a claim to reunite with the player they paid $145,000 to sign is an undrafted free agent – the highest for any undrafted rookie – back in April.
The 6’3″, 269 pound pass rusher mainly worked from the interior during his time with the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason and could help add depth there after losing Trysten Hill for the season with an ACL tear back in early October.
Takk McKinley on the other hand ended up being claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Cowboys thought highly of him back in 2017 coming out of UCLA, but the Falcons leapfrogged them in the draft to make him their first-round selection instead.
Apparently the Dallas Cowboys interest in the Falcons former first-rounder has changed a little since 2017 or they simply liked who they have on the roster better. In any case, they got the pass rusher they were after in Ron’Dell Carter.
