Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb may have just set the bar for the most expensive wave in human history. His farewell gesture to Patriots’ CB Jalen Mills following the game-winning touchdown in Week 6 has earned him a fine from the NFL.
Dak Prescott hit Lamb for a 35-yard score in overtime to end Dallas’ hard-fought battle with New England last Sunday. CeeDee strutted into the endzone and then turned and waved to Mills, who had just given him a hard shove after the play was clearly over.
Naturally, only the Cowboys player is being penalized by the league.
Leave it to Goodell’s office to punish a player for not retaliating physically when provoked. Instead, the NFL is continuing its silly crusade against taunting in 2021.
For Lamb, the $10k is chump change compared to his rookie contract as a former 1st-round pick. And if he keeps playing like he did last week, CeeDee isn’t going to be hurting anytime in the future.
The second-year receiver has emerged as the top receiver in Dallas’ offense. He’s 10th in receiving yards and tied for 10th in touchdowns among all NFL players right now.
