Dak Prescott Fined $25K for Comments About NFL Officials

The Dallas Cowboys suffered a tough loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs last weekend which ended a promising 12-5 season. There was frustration across the board and it was understandable considering the expectations for the Cowboys, but Quarterback Dak Prescott had a slip up during a postgame media session.

Fans of the Cowboys were recorded throwing objects at NFL officials after a failed spike attempt that ended the game. Prescott was asked about it and uttered “Credit to them then. Credit to them” with no hesitation. Well, that’s going to cost him some cash as he was fined $25,000 for his comments.

It was surprising considering that Prescott has always said the right things. However, Prescott is human and this was a momentary hiccup for him.

The two-time pro bowler took to Twitter to voice his remorse for his comments on Tuesday.

“I deeply regret the comments I made regarding the officials after the game on Sunday. I was caught up in the emotion of a disappointing loss and my words were uncalled for and unfair.

“I hold the NFL Officials in the highest regard and have always respected their professionalism and the difficulty of their jobs. The safety of everyone who attends a game or participates on the field of a sporting event is a very serious matter.

“That was a mistake on my behalf, and I am sorry.”

What wasn’t surprising was Prescott being able to recognize his mistake and correct it. He’s always been a standup guy and this shouldn’t sway anyone’s positive opinion of him.

I write dope stuff about the Dallas Cowboys and what not.
