While a few pieces have been provided over the last few days, we finally have the complete 2022 regular-season schedule for the Dallas Cowboys.
The NFL released the entire schedule for the upcoming season during their annual primetime special on Thursday. While international games and a few other marquee matchups and dates had already been confirmed, we now have the entire slate for this year.
Here are the whos, wheres, and whens for your Cowboys in 2022:
All times listed are Central Standard Time.
Week 1 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, September 11th, 7:20 p.m. (NBC)
In six attempts, the Cowboys have never defeated Tom Brady. They’ll get another chance to beat him when Tampa Bay visits Dallas to start the season. The Cowboys faced the Buccaneers in the kickoff game last season, falling 31-29 thanks to a game-winning field goal from Tampa Bay kicker Ryan Succop.
Dallas last defeated Tampa Bay in 2018 and hasn’t lost to the Buccaneers at home since 2001. This will be the third straight season the Cowboys will open their season with a nationally televised game.
Week 2 vs Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, September 18th, 3:25 p.m. (CBS)
This will be the first time we get to see Dak Prescott go up against Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, as both were injured the last time these two teams played. In that matchup, Andy Dalton started at quarterback for Dallas, defeating a Brandon Allen-led Cincinnati team 30-7 on the road. The Cowboys have won their last four matchups against the defending AFC champions, with the Bengals’ last win coming in 2004.
Week 3 @ New York Giants
Monday, September 26th, 7:15 p.m. (ESPN/ABC)
Dallas’ first meeting with the Giants comes in a prime time showdown on Monday Night Football. Its last Monday night matchup against New York was a 37-18 win at MetLife Stadium in 2019. The Giants lost to the Cowboys twice last season and haven’t defeated Dallas with Dak Prescott as its starting quarterback since 2016. This will be the Cowboys’ first NFC East matchup in 2022.
Week 4 vs Washington Commanders
Sunday, October 2nd, Noon (Fox)
This will be the first time Dallas will play Washington under its new name of Commanders. Last season, the Cowboys defeated Washington twice, including a 56-14 blowout victory on Sunday Night Football. The Commanders’ new starting quarterback, Carson Wentz, faced the Cowboys eight times as a Philadelphia Eagle, going 4-4 in those games.
Week 5 @ Los Angeles Rams
Sunday, October 9th, 3:25 p.m. (Fox)
In what should be one of Dallas’ toughest games, it’ll face the defending Super Bowl champions on the road. The Rams are bringing almost its entire team from last season back for 2022 and added linebacker Bobby Wagner in free agency.
Barring an injury, this will be Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford’s first time playing the Cowboys as a Ram, having gone 2-2 against Dallas as a Detriot Lion. The Cowboys fell 20-17 to the Rams in 2020 on Sunday Night Football and last defeated Los Angeles in 2019.
Week 6 @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, October 16th, 7:20 p.m. (NBC)
Dallas plays its first game against the arch-rival Eagles on the road. Last season, the Cowboys defeated the Eagles twice, with both wins coming by 20 or more points. This will be the first time we get to see Philadelphia’s new acquisitions like wide receiver A.J. Brown and defensive linemen Haason Reddick and Jordan Davis go against Dallas.
Nick Sirianni will enter his second season as Philadelphia head coach with quarterback Jalen Hurts as his starter. Hurts threw for 329 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in his one game against the Cowboys last season.
Week 7 vs Detroit Lions
Sunday, October 23rd, Noon (CBS)
The Cowboys begin a two-game homestand before their bye week against the Lions. Detroit had an excellent 2022 NFL Draft, bringing in edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson and wide receiver Jameson Williams, among others. The Lions will have quarterback Jared Goff under center for a second-straight season after going 3-13-1 in 2021. Dallas has won its last four matchups against Detroit and hasn’t lost to the Lions at home since 2011.
Week 8 vs Chicago Bears
Sunday, October 30th, Noon (Fox)
Dallas plays host to the Chicago Bears in its last game before November. If he isn’t injured, the Bears’ second-year starting quarterback Justin Fields will face the Cowboys for the first time. The Cowboys’ last meeting against the Bears was a 31-24 defeat in Chicago on Thursday Night Football. Dallas owns a 15-12 all-time record against the Chicago, with its last win coming in 2016 at home.
Week 9: Bye Week
Dallas’ bye week comes right in the middle of the season. They’ll play eight games before this week and nine games afterward.
Week 10 @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday, November 13th, 3:25 p.m. (Fox)
Dallas’ first game confirmed for 2022 was Mike McCarthy’s return to Green Bay. This will be the coach’s first matchup against his former team since he was fired in 2018. It will also be the first meeting between the Packers and Cowboys since 2019, a 34-24 Packers win.
Green Bay is 8-2 against Dallas since Aaron Rodgers became their starting quarterback, having beaten the Cowboys in seven of its last eight matchups against them. Dallas last beat the Packers in 2016 on the road and hasn’t beaten Green Bay at home since 2007.
Week 11 @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday, November 20th, 3:25 p.m. (CBS)
For the third straight season, the Cowboys will face the Vikings in Minnesota. Last season, Dallas was forced to start Cooper Rush at quarterback in place of an injured Prescott, winning 20-16 on Sunday Night Football. Minnesota has many new faces in its secondary, including rookies Lewis Cine at safety and Andrew Booth Jr. at cornerback. Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is 2-8 in his career against Dallas.
The Cowboys lead the all-time series over the Vikings, 18-15, and have won four of their last five matchups against them.
Week 12 vs New York Giants
Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, 3:30 p.m. (Fox)
This is only the second time the Giants and Cowboys will face each other on Thanksgiving. The other occasion was in 1992 with Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Co. posting a very inhospitable 30-3 score over their guests.
Week 13 vs Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, December 4th, 7:20 p.m. (NBC)
The Colts’ new starting quarterback Matt Ryan will face the Cowboys in Dallas for the third straight season, having lost the previous two as an Atlanta Falcon. Dallas’ focus should be on running back Jonathan Taylor, who led the NFL with 1,811 rushing yards last season.
The Cowboys own a 10-7 all-time record over the Colts, but were shut out on the road in their last matchup 23-0 in 2018. This will be Dallas’ third Sunday Night Football game of the season.
Week 14 vs Houston Texans
Sunday, December 11th, Noon (Fox)
For just the sixth time in team history, the Cowboys will play the Texans in the regular season for the Texas Governor’s Cup. The last two matchups between these teams have gone into overtime, with Houston winning 19-16 in 2018 and Dallas winning 20-17 in 2014.
This should be one of Dallas’ easier games as the Texans have almost completely retooled their roster after going 4-13 in 2021. Lovie Smith will be in his first season as Houston’s head coach and quarterback Davis Mills should have his first full season as the Texan’s starter.
Week 15 @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday, December 18th, Noon (Fox)
The Cowboys will seek their third straight win over the Jaguars when they visit Jacksonville for the first time since 2006. Jacksonville was one of the most active teams in free agency last season, bringing in new faces like guard Brandon Scherff, wide receiver Christian Kirk and linebacker Foyesade Oluokun.
The Jaguars’ new head coach, Doug Pederson, went 4-6 against Dallas as head coach of Philadelphia. Dallas’ last matchup against Jacksonville was a 40-7 blowout win at home back in 2018.
Week 16 vs Philadelphia Eagles
Saturday, December 24th, 3:25 p.m., (Fox)
Dallas’ home matchup against Philadelphia will be on a Saturday. This Christmas Eve rivalry matchup could be pivotal to deciding the eventual division champion. The Cowboys and Eagles are widely seen as the top two teams in the NFC East going into 2022. Depending on the standings by this late point in the year, the winner of this game might even clinch the division.
Week 17 @ Tennessee Titans
Thursday, December 29th, 7:20 p.m. (Amazon Prime Video)
The Cowboys will travel to face star running back Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans. The Titans were the AFC’s No. 1 seed last season with a 12-5 record, but failed to win a playoff game. Both teams have split the last four matchups against each other, with the Titans defeating the Cowboys 28-14 in their last matchup in 2018 on Monday Night Football. Dallas hasn’t lost in Nashville since 2000.
Although Prime Video is a subscription service, the NFL is requiring Amazon to syndicate its games to local television stations. This means fans close to the Dallas-Fort Worth area will be able to watch without having to pay for Prime Video.
Week 18 @ Washington Commanders
Saturday/Sunday, January 7/8th, TBD
The Cowboys will close out their season with their road matchup against the Commanders. The last time Dallas played Washington to finish its season, the Cowboys won 47-16 at home in Washington’s last game under its Redskins moniker. Depending on how the rest of the season goes, Dallas may potentially need a win here to clinch a playoff berth.
