Could this Player Contribute in Two Areas of the Offense?

As we all know, Jerry Jones and company are immune to big-time moves for players this season. The only thing is, Jerry Jones does not like to be called out, and for the last week or so, he has been the prime suspect of media and fan outrage.

Jerry talks a big game but has not walked the walk since the Amari Cooper trade that brought the star receiver to Dallas. Recently, he had to watch the receiver he flipped for a fifth-round pick be traded for a third-round pick. That has to sting a little.

Now, there’s a potential game-changer on the horizon. An NFC South team has a player on the trade block who could significantly bolster the Cowboys’ running and receiving game, providing the upgrades they desperately need.

This could be the spark that ignites the Cowboys’ season, bringing a wave of optimism to the team and its fans.

The Cowboys are Keeping Tabs on this Player

Jerry loves his aging superstars, and Alvin Kamara is no different. The only thing is that the Cowboys know they missed out big on Derrick Henry, another aging superstar.

Alvin Kamara has probably lost a step or two, but he has shown he can still get the job done this season. We understand there may be concerns about his age and performance, but it’s worth noting that he’s still outperforming our current running backs.

The Cowboys have at least checked Alvin Kamara’s sticker price.

Whether this is true or not, it does not hurt to check-in. Maybe the Saints will eat some of the salary to get Kamara off the books.

Would this move the needle on the season for the Dallas Cowboys? Let’s take a look at Kamara’s stats this season and see if they will work for the Cowboys.

Alvin Kamara 2024

The 2024 season has not been kind to Alvin Kamara, but he is still putting up respectable numbers while splitting carries.

Alvin Kamara has 111 carries for 438 yards and six touchdowns for the season. On the receiving side, he has 34 receptions for 252 yards and has one touchdown.

These are not terrible numbers, but would this be an upgrade? It would not be much of an upgrade, but with the bulk of the snaps in Dallas, these numbers could rise drastically.

The only issue is the Dallas Cowboys offensive line. Can they block well enough to equal the asking price for Kamara?

The difference between Alvin Kamara and the current running backs is Kamara is an outstanding receiving back. This could open up the playbook a little more and give Dak Prescott a few different looks on game day.

Who would be the Cowboys Competition for Alvin Kamara

The Denver Broncos would be the number one competitor, as head coach Sean Peyton coached Alvin Kamara for several years.

Alvin Kamara was caught giving coach Sean Peyton a hug after the Saints—Broncos game and saying, “Come get me.”

Would the Cowboys get into a bidding war with the Denver Broncos? The simple answer would be no, but anything is possible with Jerry Jones feeling the heat from the fans and media.

The Saints would ask for a minimum of a third-round pick, but this will not be what they get unless, as mentioned earlier, they eat some of Kamara’s salary.

The problem, and it may be a smokescreen, is that Alvin Kamara himself said these rumors are false.

We all know front offices don’t care what players think. So, he could still be on the trade block.

Total Change in the Running Back Room

The Cowboys already have Dalvin Cook waiting on his opportunity and need to find more touches for Hunter Leupke. Would Alvin Kamara fit in the rotation?

They need to find a way to make this work. A running back room led by Alvin Kamara, Dalvin Cook, and Hunter Leupke would be a great starting point for trying to fix an issue.

The team could even sprinkle in Rico Dowdle, who can get a few yards or be there to give the top three a breather.

A completely different look for the running backs could turn the season around for the Cowboys, who are sitting at 500 for the season.

The NFC East is still wide open and the Cowboys front office needs to not leave any stone unturned to help the team. This move would revitalize the fanbase and open up the offense.

Jerry Jones needs to make a move, and this move is just waiting for him to pull the trigger and pony up the compensation.

Get it done, and let’s get back to winning, sincerely every Cowboy fan!
