With mini-camp starting up and training camp right around the corner, the Cowboys are starting to sign their 2019 draft selections to their rookie deals. The first domino to fall? Fourth round running back Tony Pollard.
Tony Pollard became the first Cowboys rookie to sign this Friday, inking his traditional four year rookie contract right before practice began. The remaining seven rookies are expected to each follow suit, but Pollard even signed with the Cowboys quickly.
Most expect the Cowboys to utilize Tony Pollard in non-traditional ways within the offense. He’ll return kicks/punts, he’ll get some “normal” running back reps, he can work out of the slot as a receiver, and he can be a receiving threat out of the backfield as well.
Pollard should be a dynamic weapon for a Cowboys offense which needed to add some speed to their skill position groups, and he ensured he’ll be around to do so by signing this afternoon.
