The Dallas Cowboys just ended a very busy and quite productive week in free agency with some very encouraging news. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, suspended Defensive End Randy Gregory has filed for reinstatement to the NFL.
Gregory’s long past of suspensions is well documented going all the way back to February of 2016. This current break from the NFL for Gregory came after he was suspended indefinitely in February of 2019 for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy and the terms of his conditional reinstatement from a previous suspension.
Now that Gregory has officially filed it confirms a report by Patrik Walker of CBS Sports that he had every intention to return for good in 2020. With the new CBA now in place, players will no longer be suspended for a positive marijuana test, which works in Gregory’s favor.
It’s been a long road for the former 2015 second-round pick with plenty of setbacks. If, or should I say when Gregory is reinstated he’ll have a golden opportunity to put them behind him for good. More details to come.
