CB Participant: Rasul Douglas

[6/6] Rasul Douglas, West Virginia (6’2″, 204)

Rasul Douglas is one of the bigger cornerbacks in the 2017 draft class. His rare size and length will intrigue a lot of teams, especially considering how he is able to use it to come away with interceptions. He had just one INT in 2015, but accumulated eight and 2016.

Douglas would fit in nearly any defensive scheme, but I think he is at his best when he is playing in zone coverage. His instincts of diagnosing plays and quickly reacting is one of the reasons why he was able to accumulate so many INT’s in college. He is also really good at those 50-50 jump balls because of his length. That could definitely come in handy in the red zone.

Unfortunately, his length is also a disadvantage. It causes him to play a little upright, which affects how he is able to get in and out of his brakes when changing directions. That is why I think he would be best as a zone CB. He’s also not very physical, despite what his size would suggest.

I really want to see what his long speed is in the 40 yard dash and also how he is able to transition out of this back pedal. I think his size is going to limit his fluidity.

  1. This is the year, the Cowboys will draft Seattle like secondary players , to take the Cowboys to another level Furthermore, those additions, will have Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, and Anthony Brown, flourish, in a proactive mode, especially, if the Cowboys land Takk and AQ Muhammad at the defensive end position. It’s Charles Haley an Harvey Martin, show again!!
