As we get ready for tonight’s Week 3 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears, here’s a quick at the injury situations for both teams.

The following are based on the teams’ Friday practices:

Cowboys Headlines - Cowboys vs Bears: Injury Report 1DNP – Did Not Practice
LP – Limited Participant

Dallas Cowboys

  • QB Tony Romo (back) – DNP
  • DE Charles Tapper (back) DNP
  • LB Mark Nzeocha (Achilles) – LP
  • CB Orlando Scandrick (hamstring) – DNP

Though they were limited earlier in the week, offensive tackle Doug Free and defensive lineman Jack Crawford were full participants in Friday’s practice. They should play tonight barring any last-minute setbacks.

The big story here is Scandrick. If he can’t go tonight, that would put sixth-round rookie Anthony Brown in the important role of slot corner. He would be seeing a lot of the Bears’ Eddie Royal, a speedy veteran whose had plenty of big games in his career.

Scandrick’s absence would also leave Dallas with just three active cornerbacks tonight. They would likely ask safety Byron Jones to take over if an injury happened.

Chicago Bears

QB Jay Cutler (thumb) – DNP

  • RB Ka’Deem Carey (hamstring) – DNP
  • WR Alshon Jefferey (knee) – LP
  • NT Eddie Goldman (ankle) – DNP
  • OLB Willie Young (knee) – LP
  • ILB Danny Trevathan (thumb) – DNP
  • CB Kyle Fuller (knee) – LP
  • CB Tracy Porter (knee) – LP
  • CB Bryce Callahan (concussion) – LP
  • S Adrian Amos (concussion) – LP
  • S Chris Prosinski (calf) – LP

Things are clearly much uglier for the Bears. On offense, Jay Cutler is not officially out but all indications are that veteran Brian Hoyer will get the start tonight. Hoyer should have Alshon Jeffrey to throw to but the star receiver may be slowed by his knee injury.

The defense is about as banged up as it gets. Starting nose tackle Eddie Goldman is doubtful after missing the entire week of practice. His backup, Will Sutton, practiced on Friday but has an elbow issue that limited him throughout the week.

Chicago placed pass rusher Lamar Houston on IR after a knee injury sustained last week. He was starting while Pernell McPhee remains on the PUP list. The starting OLB on the other side, Willing Young, has been limited with a knee issue.

At inside linebacker, starter Danny Trevathan is out with a thumb injury. The Bears could be missing four starters out of the front seven tonight.

Almost the entire secondary is injured, too. The Bears top three corners all have been limited in practices with various issues. Starting safety Adrian Amos is also dealing with a concussion.
