If I were told that the Dallas Cowboys could end up drafting Joey Bosa in the 2016 NFL Draft at the beginning of the season, I would probably laugh it off thinking how ludicrous that would be. However, that’s something that could fall into fruition if the Cowboys continue to play like how they’ve played when Matt Cassel is the starting quarterback.

With how well the defense has played this season, you have to think that if Romo were healthy for all 11 games at this point, the Cowboys would have around 6 to 7 wins. Nevertheless, we can’t play the “if” game. We can play draft game and that’s exactly what we’ll dive into in this article.

Last season, the Cowboys did a ton of things to improve their pass rush. Adding Randy Gregory in the draft and Greg Hardy in free agency gave the Cowboys two valuable pieces to build on. Hardy will be a free agency at the end of the season, but the Cowboys have already said that they would like to extend Hardy. If that is the case, the Cowboys will have a nice nucleus of pass-rushers in Hardy, Gregory, Demarcus Lawrence, and Tyrone Crawford. Nevertheless, it can never hurt to have more pass-rushers.

If the Cowboys end up with a top-5 pick in this year’s draft, one player who would be extremely ideal is Joey Bosa. It’s no secret that Bosa will be a top pick in this year’s draft. He’s an absolute freak at 6-foot-6, 275 pounds. He plays with excellent bend off the edge. Boss can beat you with his speed or even his sheer power.

A guy like Bosa won’t fit the Cowboys’ biggest defensive line need at defensive tackle, but pairing him with a combination of Hardy, Gregory, and Lawrence would give the Cowboys an unbelievable pass rush that could be here for awhile. The best thing about Bosa is that he will be able to make an immediate impact. That’s how good he is. The Cowboys have Super Bowl aspirations in 2016 and adding a stud defensive linemen in Bosa would make their defense just that much more ferocious.

Bosa has all of the unteachable traits. If he gets the chance to work with a phenomenal defensive line coach in Rod Marinelli, Bosa will be able to round out his game and become that much more effective.

The Cowboys could go in a variety of ways with their projected top-5 pick in the draft. Getting a chance to draft Tony Romo’s successor sounds ideal, but adding a guy that can make an immediate impact like Bosa should be just too much to pass up on.
