Entering the bye week with three straight losses, the Cowboys have aimed to make some changes offensively. Most notably, they replaced Brandon Weeden for the trade-acquired Matt Cassel.

Although not official, they have also hinted at significantly increasing the workload of Christine Michael. This may mean a reduction in the workload of Darren McFadden, who has gained just 129 yards on 37 carries this season.

A tandem of Joseph Randle and Christine Michael could be a very effective two-back combo – with Randle bringing explosiveness and Michael more closely representing DeMarco Murray.

In watching Michael’s highlights, he runs with an incredibly low center of gravity and is able to burst through holes in the offensive line quickly. It is no secret that Matt Cassel is anything but a drastic upgrade over Brandon Weeden, and could greatly use this improved physical running game.

Dallas will face three top five rushing defenses in the remaining four games they expect to play without Tony Romo. A back that can keep them ahead of the chains and avoid the negative plays – such as Christine Michael – could be pivotal to remaining in the NFC East race.
