The Dallas Cowboys need on offense at WR is a bit more clear-cut, and filling it with the son of former Cowboy Robert Jones would come as a surprise. Assuming Jones is drafted close to where I have him on my board with a 6th round grade, it would be hard to be totally stunned by the value Dallas may get out of Jones.

If Zay Jones becomes the answer at WR2 following the free agency of both Terrance Williams and Brice Butler though, the Cowboys could have done better in terms of getting a more dynamic player on the outside for Dak Prescott.

Despite his issues on tape with separation and game speed, Jones has been rising on 2017 draft boards, and a big Combine performance for him could land him pretty high on Dallas’ draft wish list.

    • Thank you for reading, Kevin. I’m happy to be wrong about Jones, seeing a lot of analysts really like him, but I just don’t see a player set up to succeed in the NFL. Caught everything at ECU though, tough pro evaluation.

      • Small school players are always the hardest to gauge. Out of all the positions on the field though, it seems WR succeeds the most from the small schools. If the skills are there, they seem to thrive. Other positions are littered with failed experiments. Still, no guarantee either way, but with certain teams always in love with small school prospects, I can’t see Jones make it to day 3.
