Darius Jackson Will Take Advantage Of His Opportunity

Thanks to Darren McFadden’s poor judgment to try to save his phone from dropping and his broken elbow that seems to be made of glass, rookie running back Darius Jackson now has the opportunity to receive more practice repetitions and catch the eye of the coaching staff. The Dallas Cowboys were intrigued enough by Jackson’s athletic ability, that they decided to draft him in the six round of the 2016 NFL Draft, despite already drafting Ezekiel Elliott 4th overall in the first round. I will admit that when Darius Jackson’s name was announced as becoming a member of the Dallas Cowboys, I was a little shocked. I thought to myself where is this guy going to fit in knowing that they just drafted Zeke Elliott and they also signed veteran running back Alfred Morris to a three-year contract in the off-season? Not to mention, the Cowboys still had the fourth leading rusher in 2015 Darren McFadden still on the roster.

Is Terrance Williams Ready To Fight For His Job?

The Dallas Cowboys will have a lot of position battles that will be interesting to keep track of throughout the remainder of the off-season. One position battle that I know I will be keeping a close eye on will be at wide receiver. There is a lot of speculation that Terrance Williams might get demoted if Brice Butler steps up his game the way a lot of people are expecting. Butler showed quite a few flashes in 2015 that he can be a valued member on offense, but he also struggled with reoccurring injuries throughout the season. I’m actually looking forward to see what Butler can do with a full off-season with the Cowboys organization and hopefully a better chance to develop a bond with quarterback Tony Romo.

Dallas Cowboys: A New Role For Geoff Swaim?

Like all the other teams that make up the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys use the off-season to analyze their current players in hopes of putting together the best 53 man roster possible for the upcoming season. It has already been rumored that the Cowboys plan to use a couple of the current players on the roster at a different position in order to find a bigger role for them or determine their fate to make the final cuts. Keith Smith (6’0″, 232) is moving from the defensive side of the ball to offense, and trying to make the conversion from linebacker to fullback. Rod Smith (6’3″, 226) is also being looked at as a fullback after joining the team as a tailback in 2015 after initially being cut by the Seattle Seahawks. Actually, I wrote an article not too long ago on this topic about the Cowboys exploring all options at the fullback position, but I think there might just be another option that I didn’t even consider until now.
