Training camp has really been tough for the Dallas Cowboys over the past several years. Season-ending injuries have been a reoccurring theme, and unfortunately this year is no exception.

For those of you that were really looking forward to seeing Kellen Moore finally get his chance to prove his naysayers wrong, you will have to wait a little bit longer unfortunately.

The Cowboys expressed over and over again their confidence in Kellen Moore holding down the back of QB duties in 2016, but they are now forced to turn to second-year player Jameill Showers and rookie QB Dak Prescott.

It will be really interesting to see what the organization chooses to do going forward, but I’m nearly 100% positive they will look out side the organization to make sure of all of their options.

One such option could be recently released QB Nick Foles.

After learning of his release, I even wrote about the possibility of him becoming the Cowboys backup QB, but at the time the Cowboys weren’t interested. I wonder if things will change now.

This is truly unfortunate news for Kellen Moore. He was finally getting the opportunity after several years of just trying to fight for a roster spot during his short NFL career.

I’ll admit that I was a little hesitant with him serving as a backup QB to Tony Romo, but I was excited to see what he could do in preseason.

I want to personally wish him the best and hope that he has a speedy recovery.

UPDATE…

This certainly lessens the chance of Kellen Moore being the backup QB for the Cowboys in 2016.
