[tps_title]Cowboys 2017 Mock Draft: Round 4, 109th overall[/tps_title]
Josh Jones, S, NC State
With both Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox departing via free agency, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves a little thin at the safety position. As things stand right now, Jeff Heath would be the starter next to Byron Jones, so you can bet they will be looking to upgrade the position through the draft or free agency. That is where Josh Jones comes into play.
Matt Miller has Jones as his 113th ranked player overall. That is why I used the first of the two fourth round draft picks the Cowboys received from the 49ers to draft the talented safety out of NC State.
Jones opened up a lot of eyes at the NFL combine after finishing as the top performer among the safeties in nearly every event. At 6'1″, 220, he has the prototypical size NFL teams look for in their safeties and the skill set to fit in any defensive scheme.
Jones is one of the more versatile safeties in this draft class. He is equally effective around the line of scrimmage as a box safety, but also has the speed and coverage ability to be the deep safety. His versatility is really intriguing and would give the Cowboys two interchangeable safeties to get creative with their coverages.
