[tps_title]Cowboys 2017 Mock Draft: Round 6, 211th overall[/tps_title]
Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State
With the Dallas Cowboys sixth round draft pick I decided to select Donnel Pumphrey to fill the role of Lance Dunbar now that he is a free agent. Matt Miller currently has Pumphrey as his 218th overall in his player rankings.
At just 5'8″, 176 pounds, Pumphrey is definitely not what you would consider an every down back in the NFL. He is best suited to be a 3rd down/change of pace back in the NFL, as well as a contributor on special teams as a punt and kick returner. Those are the roles you would likely see him play with the Cowboys as well.
Despite his diminutive size, he is a physical runner. It's not something you probably want him doing at the NFL level because of his small stature, but he has no fear running between the tackles. He is much better suited to run the ball out on the edges and use his speed and vision to get in the open field. He is a good receiver out of the backfield, but is going to struggle in pass protection because of his size.
The Dallas Cowboys were rumored to have met with him at the NFL combine, so you know there is already an interest there.
