Cowboys At Packers: ITS Staff Picks

Wow… it’s Sunday already? It feels like we just played the Bengals a few days ago, and now it’s already time to hit up Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. Time flies when your team is winning, I guess. So let’s get to it.

The Packers… Aaron Rodgers and the gold and green machine… and we’re in their house, yet again. Odds don’t often stack that high, and they’re stacked against the Cowboys. We’ve been hearing all week, all season even, that the Packers game was going to be rough, and the Packers having such a highly ranked rush defense only magnifies that perception.

Most NFL fans have already given this game to Green Bay.

I get it. If you don’t dig deeper, then Green Bay appears to have the one strength needed most to shut down the Cowboys’ biggest strength, their run game. If Ezekiel Elliott falls flat today, it’s going to be a long game. It’ll force Dak Prescott to do more with less, since Dez Bryant isn’t likely to take a snap. But that’s not the whole story.

The Packers may have the top-ranked rushing defense in the league right now, but they haven’t faced a decent running team yet. That changes today.

Today’s game isn’t just a test for the Cowboys and their rookie all-stars, Dak and Zeke, it’s also a test for the Packers, and one I’m personally hoping they fail. So, we all know the drill here. It’s a waiting game that could go either way, but let’s check out what the staff here at Inside The Star thinks.

And Go.

This isn’t the same Green Bay Packers team we’re used to seeing the past several years. They have had to win some really close games this year and I think that gives the Dallas Cowboys a really good chance of getting a victory on the road at Lambeau Field. I think it’ll be a close game, but I have the Cowboys coming out on top.

I think Dak Prescott will put up his best day yet passing the ball. Unfortunately, the Packers’ guy is also pretty good.

Green Bay wins the shootout as Aaron Rodgers looks to silence his recent doubters.

I see almost no reason why the Cowboys offense shouldn’t continue their dominant ways today. Sure, it might be tougher to do so on the ground, but Dak has shown enough poise and ability for me to believe in him on the road. The Cowboys make a few more plays offensively than the Packers, and come away with the upset victory.

I started off this week incredibly confident that the Cowboys would win this game and enter the bye week at 5-1, but it took some convincing to actually choose them when it mattered. Ultimately, I think this defense rises to the occasion to force two timely turnovers against Aaron Rodgers, allowing Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott to control this game at Lambeau Field for the victory.

The Cowboys are on a roll right now, a roll named Ezekiel Elliott. Dallas is going to grind that clock out and continue to play defense the only way they know how – with their offense. This is the statement opportunity that we’ve seen Jason Garrett’s squad rise up for before, and they’ll do it again with a bye week on the way.

We’ve all heard it by now: the Packers have the top run defense in the league, but it’s been against inferior competition. Rolling with that, I think Zeke and this offensive line put that stat to bed, as he leads us to a big win en route to an 80+ yard game, and a 5-1 record.

The Dallas Cowboys’ running game continues to make good defenses look bad as they help keep Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense off the field. The defense continues to improve and they actually get pressure on Rodgers in this one. Everyone does just enough to pull out a last second win off the foot of kicker Dan Bailey.

A suspect Dallas pass-rush goes up against one of the game’s most elite passers this week in Aaron Rodgers. At the end of the day, I’m not sure this unit will do enough to make Rodgers uncomfortable in the pocket. On the other side of the ball, I fully expect to see the Cowboys’ offensive line quiet talks of Green Bay boasting an elite run defense. Dallas sticks around in this one with ball control and time of possession, but Dallas falls just short in the end. Green Bay makes a few more plays down the stretch. Dallas must wait another day to get their revenge.

Nothing would thrill me more than to see the Dallas Cowboys trounce the Green Bay Packers this afternoon. It’s just too good to pass up, so I’m taking the ‘Boys in this one. I’m in the minority when it comes to Rodgers in that I think he’s not an elite QB, and with Jordy nelson still off his game from the injury last year, Aaron is going to have to slug it out. Starks and Lacy are both hurting, so it will have to be Aaron. The Dallas D will have to do just enough, once again.

The one thing we know we’ll see today is a hard-fought football game. Neither team is prone to giving up an easy win. Can Dak and Zeke keep their roll going? Let us know your thoughts on the game today. LETS GO COWBOYS!!!

What do you think?
