Just when you thought the Cowboys were having the perfect season, sitting at 7-1 and 2 full games ahead of the 2nd place New York Giants, they get more bad news about their young defensive end Randy Gregory.

According to Ian Rapoport, Gregory failed yet another drug test, and will now face a year long ban from the NFL. This news comes on the heels of Gregory already being suspended twice this season for failed/missed tests, first for four games and later for ten.

Cowboys faithful had been hopeful that the former 2nd round pick could return in late December, fresh and ready to go for a potential playoff run, but that will no longer be the case if this report holds true.

Randy Gregory came out of Nebraska in 2015 as one of the top pass rushers in his draft class, but fell all the way to the Cowboys in the 2nd round due to a failed drug test at the NFL Combine. The Cowboys took a chance on him, considering his talent too great to pass up in the 2nd round, but now may be without him for all of 2016 and 2017.

It now seems like Gregory’s time in Dallas, and the NFL, may be coming to an end. Hopefully for the Cowboys, but more importantly for Randy Gregory himself, he can get right and find the peace he needs.

  1. I say he’s done, if not in the NFL, at least with the Cowboys. I’m sorry but I have to live life trying not to repeat mistakes, and I expect my team’s players to do the same. He obviously doesn’t. Just so, so dumb. Goodbye, Randy Gregory.

      • @Gregory Eastman – I gotta agree. This isn’t a legal debate. Weed is legal in more and more states every year. It’s a violation of an NFL policy. Rules are rules. Can’t fight to change them, but still can’t break them without consequences. Randy Gregory shouldn’t be a Dallas Cowboy now. He doesn’t want it enough.
