Perhaps best remembered for using a handheld radio to call plays during a 2016 loss to the Dallas Cowboys as head coach of the New York Giants, former assistant Ben McAdoo has joined the Cowboys as an offensive consultant.

McAdoo served as the quarterbacks coach for the Jaguars in 2020, who secured the first overall pick, hired Urban Meyer as , and drafted QB Trevor Lawrence. His tenure as head coach of the Giants began with an 11-5 record in 2016, living up to being the fresh offensive mind the Giants needed to win late in Eli Manning's career. However, McAdoo was fired after week 12 of the next season – one the Giants would start winless through five games.

McAdoo's longest tenured position in the NFL was with McCarthy in Green Bay, coaching the Packers' TEs from 2006-2011 before switching to QB coach in 2012.

Last offseason, McCarthy was criticized for bringing in Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan, in a move many viewed as the HC bringing in a familiar face as opposed to the best talent. Nolan's ultimately failed, and the Cowboys moved on in favor of Dan Quinn this season.

Now, Offensive Coordinator – with many supporters throughout the organization – will have the experienced McAdoo working alongside him to make the Cowboys offense a juggernaut this season. Early in OTAs, the Cowboys have already welcomed , , and La'el Collins back to the field, the three biggest losses from a season ago.
