A day after placing CB Orlando Scandrick on injured reserve, the Cowboys have also placed LT Tyron Smith on IR ahead of their meaningless week 17 game at the Eagles. Smith’s season will end short, as he attempted to play through injury last week against the Seahawks only to exit early for Byron Bell.

With Smith now on IR, his roster spot will be filled by OT Kadeem Edwards:

There is no doubt Tyron Smith’s injury concerns will be monitored closely by the Cowboys as they address all options to add talent behind the All-Pro tackle. Starting just 12 games this year, the drop-off in productivity for the Cowboys offensive was severe without Tyron Smith at left tackle.

It’s also worth noting that, in a game week Head Coach Jason Garrett started by stating his “healthy players” would play in Philadelphia, the Dallas injury report continues to grow — along with their list of players shut down for the season.

  1. As soon as Chas Green got lit up by Atlanta, then Byron Bell couldn’t do any better, they should have pulled in Edwards or poached an OT from somebody else’s practice squad. That was a serious siv, it got Dak beat up and not only did Garrett do nothing, Linehan kept calling pocket plays like Green and Bell were going to get better the very next play.

That was one of their top idiotic displays of 2017 IMO, and OT has to be top priority for the offseason. A player with talent who can be Smith’s heir apparent and maybe swing inside as needed. If this OL regresses, no Super Bowls.
