The Dallas Cowboys look to remain undefeated in NFC East play as they head to Washington tomorrow to take on the Redskins. There are some important players on the injury reports for both teams; let’s see who may not be playing tomorrow in this rivalry game.

Dallas Cowboys

  • DT Maliek Collins (foot) – Probable
  • LB Justin Durant (groin) – Probable
  • LB Kyle Wilber (knee) – Questionable
  • CB Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring) – OUT
  • K Dan Bailey (groin) – OUT

The biggest name here is the kicker. Dallas will be without Bailey for at least the next few weeks with a groin injury and just signed veteran Mike Nugent to take his place for a while. With a tough stretch of games ahead during Bailey’s absence, being without the most accurate kicker in NFL history will almost certainly rear its head at some point. Hopefully it doesn’t cost Dallas a victory.

2017 is starting to feel like a redshirt season for rookie corner Chidobe Awuzie.  He has only played in about one-and-a-half games so far and can’t shake this lingering hamstring issue. Dallas likely won’t put him on IR if they think he can contribute at some point, but all of this missed weeks are disappointing for your second-round pick.

Maliek Collins missed Wednesday’s practice and was limited the next two days. Justin Durant was limited all three days. Both should play tomorrow, but a rainy day in Washington won’t help their lower-body ailments. That’s especially true for Kyle Wilber, who was out all but Friday with a knee injury, and could easily miss the game.

Washington Redskins

  • OT Trent Williams (knee) – Doubtful
  • C Spencer Long (knees) – OUT
  • G Brandon Scherff (knee/back) – Doubtful
  • OT Morgan Moses (ankles) – Probable
  • OT Ty Nsekhe (abdomen) – Questionable
  • G Tyler Catalina (concussion) – Probable
  • LB Mason Foster (shoulder) – Doubtful
  • LB Preston Smith (groin) – Questionable
  • CB Josh Norman (ribs) – Probable
  • S Deshazor Everett (hamstring) – Probable

Washington’s offensive line is about as banged up as it gets.  Starting center Spencer Long has already been ruled out. Left tackle Trent Williams and right guard Brandon Scherff both missed the entire week of practice. Right tackle Morgan Moses also missed a lot of practice but that’s been the norm for him this year, so he will likely play.  Still, that’s 2-3 starters that they won’t have for Sunday.

What’s more, swing tackle Ty Nesekhe missed the entire week of practice with a core injury. The primary backup at guard, Tyler Catalina, was limited all week due to a concussion. At this point Washington may have to make a roster move today just to have enough linemen to get through the game. If the heavy rains come, this weakness will only be intensified.

Washington’s defense has some issues, too.  Starting linebackers Mason Foster and Preston Smith were both limited this week and Foster missed Friday’s practice. Foster plays inside in their 3-4 scheme while Smith is the left-side rusher.

Even though he was limited all week with a rib injury, star corner Josh Norman is expected to play. How he will be able to physically match up with Dez Bryant, though, with that injury will be interesting to watch all day. They have commercials to back up, after all.
