Boston Celtic green. New York Yankees’ pinstripes. Dallas Cowboys’ home white jerseys.

Three of the most iconic looks in all of sports, no team in the NFL has a more recognizable brand than the Dallas Cowboys do. White jerseys, silver pants, silver helmets, and the beautiful blue star.

However week 14 of this season, when the Cowboys face the New York Giants in what we assume will be a pivotal divisional battle, that classic Cowboys white will not be on display. Instead, after the Giants opted to wear their throwback white uniforms, forcing the Cowboys to wear their road blues.

This is going to be weird, as it’s the first time Dallas has worn their blue jerseys in East Rutherford, New Jersey in thirty years. Yes, the first time in thirty years.

Now, we all know that the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles have often chosen to wear white at home when Dallas comes to town to force the Cowboys to change up their jersey game, but this has never been done by the Giants.

The last time the Cowboys wore those road blues in New Jersey came on September 20th, 1987. Though the 1987 was otherwise average, the Cowboys did find a way to eek out a road win against the rival Giants that day, 16-14.

The Cowboys did wear their blue jerseys twice in 2016, defeating the Browns in Cleveland and the Redskins at home on Thanksgiving Day.

While most Cowboys fans don’t like the look, preferring the more classic white jerseys to the “unlucky” or “cursed” blues, I actually enjoy when the team decides to switch up their uniforms every once in a while.

Personally, I look forward to the Cowboys specialty-look days, such as the Thursday night color rush and Thanksgiving Day games. I’d like to see the league expand on the Cowboys uniform options, maybe creating a blue or silver color rush look.

Hopefully, while rocking these blue jerseys, the Cowboys can make the Giants pay for screwing up their normal look.
