The world can’t get enough of Dak Prescott, the cool, calm, collected, and winning starting rookie quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys through the first five weeks of the 2016 season.

Prescott set the rookie record for passing attempts without an interception in his week 5 win against the Bengals, surpassing Carson Wentz who tossed a game-ending interception in the Eagles first loss this week.

Now, the record setting quarterback of America’s Team, and the eighth signal caller taken in the 2016 draft, will appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated – a distinguished mark that athletes around the world strive for.

Prescott is the first rookie QB to make the cover since May, when the first overall pick Jared Goff made an appearance in his Rams uniform. Goff has still yet to sport that uniform in live action for his team this season, while Prescott has given the Cowboys hope for the present and the future – selected 134 picks after Goff.

Cowboys Headlines - Dak Prescott Appears on First Sports Illustrated Cover with the Cowboys 2

Dak Prescott has actually graced the SI cover twice before, but as a Mississippi State Bulldog both times. Most notably, Dak was featured here when he led Mississippi State to the nation’s top ranking in college football.

“Who Dak?” is the question that this cover story now asks, a question that a multitude of answers depending on how you feel about Tony Romo with the Cowboys (the last Dallas QB to make the SI cover outright* back in December of 2013, with a feature article pleading fans to respect the greatness they currently see in Prescott).

*Tony Romo did appear on the 2014 NFL Preview edition of Sports Illustrated, but it was a regional cover that was not distributed to all readers.

In a simple answer, and one that you would expect to hear from Prescott himself, he’s simply a player that has his team in first place in the NFC East – one game and Sports Illustrated cover at a time.
