“There's no ceiling on this team.”

Cowboys starting did not mince words when speaking with the media this week about what his expectations are for the upcoming 2019 season. Rather than giving the standard, “we'll see what happens” type of answer, Prescott answered honestly. And, likely, answered correctly.

The was a tale of two halves for the . After opening up the season in disappointing fashion, particularly on offense, they traded for and turned their season around. Winning 10 regular season games, the crown, and a home playoff game gives the Cowboys some extra energy and charisma this June.

And Prescott is certainly feeling that energy.

“My expectations are high…We're excited for the position we're in.” – Dak Prescott

Of course, the Cowboys should be confident. After all they are among the most talented rosters in the NFC, and expect to be in a two team race with the for the top spot in their division. Success a year ago does not guarantee success in the future, though, and it's certainly been quite a while since the Cowboys last reached their ultimate goal.

January of 1996 was a long time ago. Much of the current Cowboys roster was barely conscious for that last Super Bowl win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, in fact. But the roster is made up of a young crew which could be ready to end the lengthy drought. To bring Dallas their sixth Super Bowl ring. And, to cement Dak Prescott among the greats to have played the quarterback position for the Cowboys.

Much must be done before any of this is true, but the Cowboys offseason goal has been made very clear. From Stephen Jones speaking about “taking the next step,” to Prescott himself saying this team has no ceiling, the Cowboys expect to compete for a Super Bowl in 2019.
