Dez Bryant hasn’t had the season many thought he would have after signing the long-term contract over the offseason. A large part of that has been because of the injury he was dealt with at the beginning of the year, but the injury is something the Cowboys will need to watch as the team finishes the season and heads into the offseason.

Across from Bryant, it’s yet to be seen whether Terrance Williams is capable enough to man the No. 2 receiver position. Williams isn’t particularly fast or strong and he has shown that he consistently catches with his body rather than catching with his hands. That said, considering how the Cowboys’ season will likely play out, the team could have its first top-10 pick in years. If that is the case, one player that opens some eyes is none other than Ole Miss’ Laquon Treadwell.

Blessed with an excellent combination of size and speed at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, with a sub 4.4 40-yard dash, Treadwell has unteachable traits of what is wanted and needed at the next level. Just last season, Treadwell had a gruesome knee injury, but as the NFL Draft nears, teams will continue to check on the injury, one of those teams should be the Cowboys.

We see Bryant getting taken out of games at times. Because of the Cowboys’ inability to have a consistent No. 2 playmaker opposite of Bryant, defenses are able to put a safety single-high over the cornerback.

Treadwell has the talent and the potential to start right away opposite of Bryant. He has an excellent catch-radius. He has huge hands and when you combine that with his long arms and his athleticism, it’s easy to understand why he can bring in the football no matter where it is thrown in his vicinity.

Wide receiver isn’t exactly the biggest need for the Cowboys. Defensive tackle, quarterback, and cornerback may be more glaring needs, but it’s not too often that the Cowboys will have the opportunity to bring in a legit top-5 talent. The knee will need to be checked out again and again, but if it checks through, Treadwell is a guy the Cowboys should seriously consider.
