If you’re a part of the NFL/Cowboys Community on Twitter then you know what a fascinating time of year NFL Draft coverage is. There are takes galore as people analyze, dissect, and pick apart every potential candidate for America’s Team… it’s a truly special thing. Perhaps the NFL Draft could be even more special for Dallas Cowboys fans in 2018 as the team has officially placed a bid to host the 2018 NFL Draft.

Unless you recently got hit with the neuralyzer from Men In Black and forgot the last few weeks, the 2017 NFL Draft was held outdoors – for the first time ever – in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. Philly isn’t exactly known for being great – the Eagles have still never won the Super Bowl – but this year’s Draft was a raging success and gave serious wind to the notion of the annual event becoming something that rotates across NFL cities.

The Star
The Star in Frisco, TX is immediately becoming the go-to venue for football-related events… and the 2018 NFL Draft could be the next one.

The Star in Frisco, TX immediately became a frontrunner for the 2018 NFL Draft as 2017’s was going on. If you’ve never been then do your best to imagine The Star as basically a college campus dedicated to an NFL team… seriously.

The idea for the 2018 NFL Draft would be to split the events between The Star and the world-renowned AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Between both world-class venues the Dallas Cowboys could put on a – this will be the tagline, you can sense it already – Texas-sized event to welcome the newest players into the NFL and their corresponding fans.

Typically when a team builds a new stadium it gets rewarded with a Super Bowl. Consider that Super Bowls XLII (University of Phoenix Stadium), XLV (AT&T Stadium, then Cowboys Stadium), XLVI (Lucas Oil Stadium), XLVIII (MetLife Stadium), XLIX (University of Phoenix Stadium again), and 50 (Levi’s Stadium) were all in stadiums that have opened in about the last decade. Super Bowls LII and LIII will also be played in brand new stadiums. NFL cities like Green Bay, Chicago, Buffalo, the colder ones… aren’t likely to get a Super Bowl because their stadium is outdoors in a cold climate.

The NFL Draft could prove to be a reward for building a top-notch practice facility, like the Cowboys did with The Star. So basically Philadelphia might have unearthed this idea, but the Dallas Cowboys are going to massively improve it. Sounds about normal, right?

  1. Something tells me that Philadelphia will get a sequel, and the Cowboys, will host the draft, as Super Bowl Champs, in 2019.

That’s my gut feeling on this matter.
