Fantasy Football can change in an instant. After Cliff Avril put a hit on quarterback Tony Romo, Cowboys Nation and fantasy football owners were not in a good place, emotionally. Then, when we see Tony Romo trying to get back in the game, and the team downplaying the severity of the injury. We all took a collective sigh of relief.

But on Saturday, at a little after 1 pm, news broke that Tony Romo had suffered a compression fracture at his first lumbar vertebrae.

Then the nation felt the collective punch to the gut as we saw the hope and promise of the 2016 NFL season take a dive.

The Risers

Enter Dak Prescott, the hottest name of the preseason. Prescott will now get a chance to start for one of the more complete offenses in the NFL. He makes his first appearance in our positional rankings.

Jameis Winston is also another big riser in my opinion. The Tampa Bay quarterback looked really impressive during the third preseason game. He showed good pocket awareness and poise when avoiding pressure and getting the ball downfield. I believe Winston is a top-10 quarterback in Fantasy football by the end of the season.

The Fallers

Obviously, Tony Romo takes a tumble in the rankings. At this time, I’m not advocating dumping the Pro Bowl quarterback if you can afford the roster spot. The team isn’t being clear in regards to Romo’s injury, but outside sources put recovery time at 6-10 weeks.

    • Are you willing to start him over any of those other guys? I’m not there just yet. I like the upside and the long term potential for a dynasty league, however this year he will go through some growing pains. It’s still unknown exactly how long Romo will be out. At the QB position, I’m going with proven over unproven.
