The tight end group in recent years has been as deep as any in fantasy football. If you aren’t able to draft one of the top three, you can find really good value in the middle and late rounds of the draft.

Risers

Julius Thomas, Jacksonville Jaguars

Julius Thomas, of the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been an interesting player the last several years. With Peyton Manning in Denver, Thomas was a touchdown machine, though he didn’t have many receptions.

After being slowed for much of 2015 with an injury, Thomas showed he was an effective member of the Jaguars’ passing offense.

All reports out of training camp have Julius Thomas ready to rebound in 2016 and be a top Tight End.Fantasy Football - Fantasy Football: Preseason Tight End Rankings - Week 3

Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Another tight end on the rise is Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Austin Seferian-Jenkins.  A Twitter rant left many disappointed in the athletic tight end. Seferian-Jenkins was in the Buccaneer dog house and Cameron Brate was taking all of the first-team snaps.

The talented tight end from Tampa Bay has begun to see more and more of the first team work. Austin Seferian-Jenkins appears ready to take back his starting role.

Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson take a lot of the focus from the safeties on the outside, leaving Austin Seferian-Jenkins with room in the middle and linebackers in coverage.

Virgil Green, Denver Broncos

Even with the rotation of quarterbacks in Denver, Virgil Green has stood out as a tight end to take seriously.

In the most recent preseason game, Green caught four passes for 57 yards on four targets.

The Denver Broncos will look to feature the running game, but in the passing game, Green should get plenty of opportunities. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders will take focus from the defense, which will leave opportunities for Virgil Green to shine over the middle.

Fallers

Will Tye, Larry Donnell, New York Giants

Cowboys Headlines - NFC East Position Rankings: Tight Ends 1Neither player has been able to separate themselves in this tight end competition during training camp.

Larry Donnell was the starter going into 2015, but a neck injury shortened his season.

Will Tye came in and did an adequate job. The young tight end had 32 catches, 368 yards, and 3 touchdowns from week 10 on.

Whoever emerges from this camp competition the starter will have an opportunity to make some noise in fantasy football. Aside from deeper leagues, I’m avoiding this until it shakes out.
