It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t flashy. It surely wasn’t what we expected, but the Cowboys pulled off the win against the winless Kansas City Chiefs. The game looked like it was getting out of hand as the Cowboys fell early 10-0 to the Chiefs, who only had 8 yards of offense at that time. It would take a Second half for the Cowboys to take off.

As the kickoff boomed, the Cowboys seemed to be a different team. The defense was stout, and the offense finally got something rolling. The Chiefs were able to keep up though, tying it up with 20 seconds left on the clock. In overtime, it was the impressive Miles Austin that took the ball 60 yards for the game winning TD.

Impressive Headlines:

1) Jay Ratliff’s Blocks field goal to keep the game tied up.

2) Tashard Choice runs 36 yards for a TD, sparks the running game.

3) Miles Austin’s 2 TD grabs for distances of 59 and 60 yards insures Dallas win.

4) DeMarcus Ware registers 2 sacks.

5) Tony Romo, silences critics with a QB passer rating of 113 throwing for 351 yards and 2 td’s.

6) Defense continues to get better, a sign of good things to come.

Needs some work:

1) Penalties- The Cowboys had 13 penalties for 90 yards.

2) Fourth Quarter Defense- This is the second time that the Cowboys let a team drive at the end of the game to take control

3) Getting the passing game more then 1 dimensional- We need to work on getting everyone involved and not being predictable.

Game Ball:

1) Miles Austin- Miles set a franchise record with 10 receptions for 250 yards and 2 TD’s

2) Tony Romo- A great performance after a week of scrutinty.

3) Demarcus Ware- 2 sacks… Finally

Heating Up:

These players are beginning to heat up on the field

1) Anthony Spencer- Spencer looked great today, pressuring the quarterback and being involved on plays.

2) Keith Brooking- The mans been a monster since coming over via Free Agency.

3) Tashard Choice- He’s becoming a home run threat.

4) Jay Ratliff- He’s having another Pro Bowl Caliber season

5) DeMarcus Ware- His 2 sacks today, quite possibly mean he’s figured it out again.

Final Word:

I guess I expected this game to be a bit of a blow out. However, I wont complain with the result, a win is a win. The Cowboys made more mistakes then a team who expects to win, should. The Bye week is here and there is much to be worked on, but a win gives confidence to a team that needs it with Atlanta coming to town.

  1. Didn’t get to watch the game live, had to use NFL for play-by-play. The penalties were killing me, esp. I think in the 3rd or 4th quarter. When it was basically back-to-back-to-back penalties on both the Chiefs then the Boys. I really hope NFL Replay shows this game later in the week. So I can give my .02 cents too. But what I saw from the play-by-play and then the last minutes that was shown on FOX, this offense looks to finally be getting things together. But like you said, this Bye Week will def. help us figure more things out and prepare for that lethal Falcons offense, we all know our D needs it.

    How bout em.

  2. Now I’ve been a what I call a true fan all my life. Every since I found out, heard about, and watched on T.V. The Dallas Cowboys has always been the team I choose. I do not have a second team. If you have a second team, you’re not a true fan. Any ways back to the point, I strongly beleive if Mr.Jones Jerry or Steven, Either or I really think Steven can do this job quicker than Jerry. Now Mr. Steven Jones. I personaly think that you would start some new stuff on the field. Than we would’nt have so many penilties on the field. Now I suggest that you start to FINE whoever get a stupid call on them. $10.000 dollars for each penilty they get. I bet the team won’t get as many. And the same player will not keep making the same mistake. That keep setting us back yards or give the other team extra yards. I just wanted to bring that to your attentiion. Mr. Jones. Thank You
    Ms.Wanda H.

  3. After watching the game on NFL Replay, all I have to say is the refs must be coming down with Glaucoma. On the final drive for the Boys before the half, there was an obvious HORSECOLLar, no call. A few plays later it was helmet to helmet on Romo, NO CALL. THEN on the other side of the ball they were throwing all kinda of BS calls against us, especially that killer penalty on Ball (I think?) The unnecessary roughness I believe was the call (helmet to helmet) but clearly it was his shoulder that drove him in. Whatever, besides those and the NUMEROUS penalties that racked up 90 yards. I have to say Romo looked good in this game, he was perfect up until he barely missed Austin in the end zone. Our D looked pretty stout, esp. against the run. Only thing they need to work on is still the secondary/LB’s in coverage. But I think this bye week more things will get squared away and they will be ready for the Falcons. I can’t wait.
