It's no secret the are looking to bolster their position this offseason. After largely bargain shopping at safety over the past couple of years, and company may need to invest heavy resources into finding their long term answer.

Maybe even a first round pick.

If they do use pick 17 on a safety, LSU Tigers safety Grant Delpit feels like a solid option. At 6'3″ 201 pounds, Delpit has the size and strength to play physically in coverage. But he's also an incredibly athletic and rangy safety, earning his reputation with his confidence and ball skills.

Delpit spoke to the media this week, confirming that he has a meeting with America's Team on the schedule during this year's NFL combine.

Grant Delpit is not without his faults of course, with shaky tackling and an injury riddled past haunting his NFL evaluation. He's far from the “slam dunk” prospect that a Jamal Adams was out of the same school a few years back.

Still, he is well worth taking a look at with the 17th pick, if he were to last that long on draft day. Dallas' safety depth has been one of their biggest roster downfalls in recent years, and it's clearly an area which needs addressing early on during the 2020 draft.
