The next time somebody tells you that special teams don’t matter in football, remind them how awesome Lucky Whitehead is. The Cowboys’ second-year player has improved his game as a punt and kick returner, becoming a gadget player type weapon for Dallas.

Whitehead was only able to field two punts in the win at San Francisco against the 49ers, but his second return went for 11 yards about midway through the first half, setting up Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense to march 66 yards for their first score of the day.

With this performance, which included a 28-yard kickoff return, Lucky was named the Cowboys’ special teams player of the week – showing off the awesome award on Snapchat.

Jason Garrett’s Cowboys have a number of ideologies that they try to live by, with strength and physicality being a focal point. This hammer is a good reminder of not only that, but of the importance of special teams as part of the “fight” this team enters each week.

Congratulations to Lucky Whitehead, a player that Cowboys Nation can’t get enough of!
