The focus of the media was on the return of Tony Romo, the bigger return was of one Terrence Newman! T-New was huge in his return. I cannot express how big he was for this team. Romo, and Barber will grab most of the headlines, but I am here to tell you that without the performance that Newman put in last night this may very well have had a different ending.
Terence Newman who has been inactive since the last Foreskin game in Dallas was all over Santana Moss. During the week leading up to the game the Cowboys coaching staff submitted a challenge to a now healthy Newman. That challenge? Take Moss out of the game! He accepted that challenge with open arms. For the first time all year the Cowboys played mostly man coverage on the outside all night long. Newman was in the face of Moss for 4 quarters. Moss came into the game averaging 5 Rec. for 70 yards per contest. Newman held him to 5 Rec. for 29 yards. In the first meeting Moss absolutely torched the Boys for 8 Rec. and 145 yards, Newman was having none of that on this night! I can assure you of this Santana Moss had nightmares about T-New last night and is in no hurry to see him again.
T-New showed me a lot last night, not in his abilities but in his leadership! This was a statement game not only for the Cowboys, but a statement from Newman to the rest of his teammates! He showed to the rest of his teammates with his ACTIONS what level they must perform at in order to make their goals a reality! You will never hear him boast about how good he is. You will never hear him publicly voice his displeasure’s. You will never hear him call out one of his own, but last night he showed us all what we have been aching to see from someone, anyone on this team, HEART and DETERMINATION! We have all heard this question more than once this year, who is the leader of this defensive unit? Well for one night anyway I give you one Terrence Newman!
