When it comes to giving any kind of information away about the interest in this player or that, is generally as cryptic as they come. Getting a straight answer out of him is like pulling teeth and he held true to form when asked about the Cowboys potential interest in former first-round draft pick DeAndre Baker.

DeAndre Baker of course was the 30th overall pick in the by the , but was released back in September when armed robbery charges were filed against him. Those charges were recently all dropped, hence all of the discussion about the Cowboys “potential” interest in the former Georgia Bulldog.

I actually wrote yesterday about why the Cowboys should consider signing DeAndre Baker and to learn the organization is at least having internal discussions about him is encouraging. Sometimes linking these free agents to Dallas is like throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks, but in this case it actually makes a ton of sense.

The former college All-American started 15 games for the New York Giants last season before all of the legal issues led to his release. The 23-year-old fits the parameters the Dallas Cowboys typically look for in their CBs (5'11”, 190) and would definitely fill a need if signed.

The Dallas Cowboys CB position is somewhat in flux with only and Anthony Brown in the current plans beyond the 2020 season, which makes the need for more depth a top priority in the offseason. DeAndre Baker of course could lessen that “need”.

This is a situation definitely worth following considering the current and future impact signing DeAndre Baker could have on the Dallas Cowboys. Whether or not it actually comes to fruition is something we will all have to wait to find out though.

Do you think DeAndre Baker is worth the risk for the Dallas Cowboys?
