David Moore, at the Dallas Morning News, is reporting that both Anthony Spencer and Ronald Leary have been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start training camp.
Spencer’s issues are well-known, and that’s kept him generally out of the spotlight so far.
Nobody knows how – or even if – he’ll recover from micro-fracture surgery, but he’s been a bit of a security blanket for Dallas fans.
Three early roster moves: Cowboys place G Ronald Leary and DE Anthony Spencer on PUP list. DT Amobi Okoye on active/non-football illness

Throughout the offseason, much speculation has traversed the transmission lines about the defense.
From rookies DeMarcus Lawrence, Anthony Hitchens, and Terrance Mitchell, to more seasoned newcomers Terrell McClain, Jeremy Mincey, and let’s not forget the big question with Rolando McClain (will he or won’t he retire again?), the Cowboys are in a state of fluidity that most fans and journalists just don’t know what to do with. Aside from the injury-riddled, nothing on the defense is certain. The second Sean Lee was went down during OTAs, we all knew it.
So to see some expectations come to fruition isn’t necessarily bad.
Ronald Leary strained hamstring in conditioning test on Monday in Valley Ranch. That’s why he is on PUP to start camp

Now the story on Ron Leary might be some cause for concern, but with just a sprained hamstring and a solid cast around him on the line, I wouldn’t think too hard on this development. Even if his injury turns out to be more than it currently appears, Leary allowed for extra depth as much as anything.
It should also be noted that DT Amobi Okoye has been listed with a non-football illness.
