Tony Casillas Makes Bold Prediction For The 2016 Dallas Cowboys

Almost a year ago Tony Casillas lost out to Jethro Pugh in our Countdown To Kickoff when we unveiled the Greatest #75 in Dallas Cowboys History. Casillas, the 2nd Overall Pick in 1986, is very familiar with Cowboys History. He’s not only one of the best to wear #75 for the club, but he was a part of two squads that claimed World Championships (Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII). He’s poured blood, sweat, and tears into the Cowboys and went back to visit the practice fields where many of them have lived since his days in the blue and silver when the Cowboys held their final practice at the historic Valley Ranch on Thursday. It was a festive, and nostalgic, affair as Coach Garrett emphasized the importance of the moment and its historic value to the 2016 Dallas Cowboys.

The group gathered for a gigantic team photo and it was shortly after that when Casillas emphasized his own point regarding the 2016 Dallas Cowboys on Twitter.

NFC Champions, baby.

That means that Casillas is predicting the Dallas Cowboys to represent the National Football Conference at Super Bowl LI in Houston come February 2017.

Cowboys fans near and far would love for that to be the case. Fox Sports’ Teddy Mitrosilis wrote on Tuesday about how younger Cowboys fans might not necessarily identify the franchise as much with winning as older generations do. It’s been quite some time since the Cowboys participated in the Super Bowl or an NFC Championship Game, a topic I dove deep into back in January, but Casillas hasn’t made this declaration every year in that span.

Hopefully Tony Casillas will prove right in his prediction. It’s no secret that we all want to see the 2016 version of America’s Team add to the hardware that Casillas helped earn for the franchise. Let’s make it happen.
