We might have seen the last drive that Tony Romo will orchestrate as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys – and wow was it as smooth as ever. Stepping onto the field for a regular season game for the first time since Thanksgiving of 2015, Romo led a six play touchdown drive that was capped off with a dime to Terrance Williams in the end zone against the Eagles.

The Cowboys didn’t start off the new year with a win, but Romo’s storybook moment was more than enough to get Cowboys Nation going on Twitter. Here is a special edition of #TweetBreak to commemorate a Cowboys’ legend in Tony Romo:

The Excitement of a Kid Again

If we’re being completely honest, it didn’t make a ton of sense for Romo to play in this game. The ultimate competitor though, Romo wanted to get into this regular season finale, and did just that harmlessly for one drive.

Romo smiled the whole time coming off the field, and celebrated with Dak Prescott – putting to rest any last whispers of a quarterback controversy or divide in the Dallas locker room because of these two stars.

Cowboys Nation Reminisces

I could share my own tweets, but I take much more pride as a lifelong Romo fanatic knowing that my feelings towards this remarkable player are shared by many others. In summary, I said that Romo’s touchdown pass cemented the fact that he will always be the most influential athlete I’ve had the pleasure of watching.

Romo himself was happy with his afternoon of work in Philadelphia, offering these comments after the game.

As always, our RJ Ochoa summed up everything that crossed our minds about #9 so well in just one tweet as well.

Tony Romo has meant so much to so many Cowboys fans, enough for a meaningless six snaps to warm our hearts – potentially for the last time.

Moving on with Dak Prescott

As a team, the Dallas Cowboys will still have a great chance to bring the joy of a Tony Romo touchdown pass this season – preparing now for the playoffs as the NFC’s top seed.

They will do so with complete confidence in Dak Prescott, a rookie quarterback that has learned a ton from Romo along with the other wise QB minds around him.

Yes, even Mark Sanchez has had an influence on Prescott, but his play today was a jarring drop off from Romo to Butt Fumble.

Of course, some things will never change, and throughout this season there have been fans that never even wanted to entertain the thought of seeing Romo remain the starter in Dallas. Hopefully they were able to appreciate what he did today, although fans like this will always miss the point.

To conclude this Tweet Break, I’ll break my own rule for a second, and share one of my tweets that will hopefully resonate with all of you. Thank you for reading and enjoying the success that Tony Romo has brought us.
