Smith missed the Cowboys Week 2 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons after suffering a neck injury on September 17 during individual drills and hasn't practiced since. gave an update on Friday at his press conference about his veteran left tackle.

“He's getting better,” McCarthy said, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. “I think one of the tests will be tomorrow's practice.

If Smith can't go then Brandon Knight, who played solid in his absence last week, will get the start.

Lawrence is currently dealing with a knee injury that he suffered last week against the Falcons. He missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices before returning in a limited fashion on Friday. McCarthy sounded pretty optimistic about Lawrence's chances to play on Sunday.

“He is progressing very well,” McCarthy said.

This Sunday's game vs the Seahawks is an early measuring stick for the 2020 Cowboys as they try to remain atop the standings.
