I think I speak for the majority of all Dallas Cowboys fans when I say that we didn’t like the moves made by this team on the 2013 NFL draft. I mean, the idea to take Cooper, Vaccaro, Warmack was a little far-fetched  but deep inside we held on to that possibility, right? Then those options pick by pick were gone.

By the time the Cowboys were on the clock, they could’ve picked S Eric Reid or DT Sharrif Floyd (dropped due to physical reasons) but our GM Jerry Jones, as expected, made this trade down to the 31st pick and another 3rd round pick.

Well, we all know how this story went down from there.

So now our Cowboys have seven new players. None of which is what we expected, however, it may be too soon to make judgments or predictions. We have to give them the benefit of the doubt, it’s the least that we can do for the moment. We’ve all seen and read the grades NFL experts and analyst gave to each player, so for us loyal fans the only thing to do is wait and have faith in the players.

What I’m really interested in pointing out is that overtime we’ve seemed to distrust our General Manager, but let’s not forget that it is the same guy that made the choices in the 90’s;  You remember, back when “America’s Team” got three championships. Sure, at that time there was a different staff, different scouts and even two different head coaches. But then again, I think we all know who gave the last word on the matter.

What I’m really trying to say is that Jerry Jones isn’t the one who’s playing each snap, at the end of the day it is our players that wins or loses games. It is our players that make the difference down there in the field. It is not solely Jerry’s, Stephen’s or Jason’s fault, they make choices based on their scouts and their knowledge on each college player.

The fact that we are all a little discouraged with our team’s picks this year shouldn’t take away the fact that there is great talent in this roster. The players that were banged up last season are gradually getting healthy and that is very good news. Let’s not forget that three to five games last year were lost by almost nothing.

This IS a good team that’s stocked full with talent.

Travis Frederick IS a good addition whether he is or isn’t a “first round” caliber pick. He can solidify the offensive line just enough and give the some extra time to Romo. The QB himself allegedly called the team’s management and showed appreciation for that. So like I’ve said, give these players the benefit of the doubt, stop blaming the GM (and I’m not defending him) for his choices, if they where the right ones or not, the jury still is out with that call, and we can start making those calls come September 8.
