Dallas Cowboys Good, Bad, and Ugly From Week 16 Against Philadelphia

An explosive offensive performance propelled the Dallas Cowboys to a 37-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16. Not only does this win keep the Cowboys playoff hopes alive, but also puts an end to any hopes the Eagles had of reaching the postseason. It was an impressive performance and one they hope to carry into next week’s game against the New York Giants.

This was arguably the most dominant the Dallas Cowboys have looked in all three phases the game at any point in 2020. That’s good news considering a potential playoff spot is on the line next week. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s get to this week’s edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Let’s get started, shall we!?

The Good

The good from the Dallas Cowboys Week 16 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles was obviously how impressive they were on the offensive side of the ball. This is the kind of score at will offense we were expecting from the Cowboys all season. Andy Dalton was able to spread the ball around to all of his weapons in the passing game and Ezekiel Elliott notched his second 100-yard game of the year. If they can keep this up they might just win the NFC East division and make the playoffs.

The Bad

Honestly, there wasn’t a whole lot of negatives in Week 16 for the Dallas Cowboys. I guess the only bad is the fact their victory over the Eagles likely prevents them from securing a Top 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. I’m personally not “team tank”, but I was getting excited about the potential of the Cowboys with a Top 10 draft pick. A loss next week to the New York Giants gets them back there, but a win puts them outside the Top 15 and lower if they make the playoffs.

The Ugly

Instead of being putrid like they’ve been nearly all season, the Dallas Cowboys defense was surprisingly just a little ugly against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16. Offensively the Eagles have been red-hot since Jalen Hurts took over at QB and the Cowboys held them to just 17 points. That’s pretty encouraging considering the New Orleans Saints nor the Arizona Cardinals could accomplish that feat. It’s really good to see the Cowboys defense playing much better of late.
