#4. Tyron Smith, LT

I understand this is the second offensive lineman that has made my top 5 Dallas Cowboys players that I think are irreplaceable, but that’s just how important I think the OL is to this team. Of course, the man that started all, Tyron Smith, falls in at number four. But, I really contemplated placing him even higher.

The left tackle position is perhaps one of the most important out of all positions in the entire NFL. In fact, I personally think quarterback is the only position more important.

The LT is responsible for protecting the blindside of the QB, which is why they make the big bucks. Quarterbacks are hard to come by in the NFL, especially good ones. You have to keep them upright and healthy if you want your team to have any kind of success.

Tyron Smith is one of the best in the business and fortunately he plays for the Dallas Cowboys. He is big, strong, and athletic. He is dominant in both the passing and running game, and there simply isn’t another player on the roster that is even remotely close enough to being able to do what he does.

The fact the Cowboys don’t even know who they’re starting right tackle will be in 2017 makes Smith’s irreplaceability even more evident. He battled through injuries last season, which made him miss a little bit of time. If it happens again in 2017, the Cowboys could be in trouble.

  1. I agree, maybe you should write about the 5 most indispensable players on special teams/defense since this batch was all offensive…my 5 on defensive/special teams…the GOAT Jeff Heath, Sean Lee, Dan Bailey, Chris Jones and Byron Jones

  2. I agree especially with the Zeke pick & can’t see the cowboys going anywhere without this guy, he can score from anywhere on the field, a block here, there,& it’s good night Irene.

  3. for me it’s a toss up @ # 3 between Dez,Beasley,& Witten. for last season it would have to have been Beasley.
