Surprise Cuts: 5 Cowboys Battling For Life After Camp

Last week I took a shot at determining who the Dallas Cowboys might keep on their final 53 man roster, and that started me thinking who could possibly be the surprise roster cuts that we have to say goodbye to. Year in and year out, we have to say goodbye to players that we were hoping would be able to make an impact with the team and this year is no exception. Sometimes, these players are veterans that have been with the team for a while or they are rookies, but having to say goodbye to them is sometimes a little hurtful. Below are some of the players that I could see the Dallas Cowboys having to say goodbye to before the 2016 season gets underway. J.

We May Never See Lance Dunbar in 2016

The majority view right now is that running back Lance Dunbar, who was re-signed to a one-year deal in March, will begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List. He is still recovering from a major left knee injury that occurred in Week 4 last year. Dallas chose to bring back Dunbar despite this injury, no doubt due to the major role he was starting to find in 2015. He had 21 catches from Weeks 1-3, tying Jason Witten for the team lead during those weeks. Five days after re-signing Dunbar the Cowboys also added veteran running back Alfred Morris.

Cowboys Running Backs: Who’s In? Who’s Out?

The Dallas Cowboys are going to be faced with a difficult decision when it comes to evaluating the running back position and deciding who’s in and who’s out. One of the most surprising selections for the Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft was when the organization decided to draft Eastern Michigan’s Darius Jackson in the six round, especially after making running back Ezekiel Elliott the 4th overall pick. If you would have asked me before the draft what position the Cowboys were most likely to double dip in I would’ve probably answered either defensive end or cornerback, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thought the Cowboys would use two of their nine draft picks on running backs. The running back position will be one to keep an eye on throughout the rest of the off-season and it will be interesting to see what the Cowboys ultimately decide to do with all of these RBs. Let’s take a look at the depth chart and try to predict who stays and who goes.

Darren McFadden Should be Here to Stay

Oh yes, the running back position for the Dallas Cowboys. A position that has been talked about non-stop since DeMarco Murray’s dominant 2014 performance – only to see him leave for 1 bumpy season with Chip Kelly and the Eagles – until now, where the Dallas Cowboys are … Read more

Dallas Cowboys Sign RB Alfred Morris

Four years ago my Dad and I were watching the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins play a preseason game. The nation was tuning in as the #1 and #2 Overall Picks (Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III) were squaring off against each other, but it was a different … Read more
