The third season of Amazon’s “All or Nothing” documentary series, produced by NFL Films, will feature the 2017 Dallas Cowboys. The show will be available beginning April 27th.
Unlike HBO’s long-running “Hard Knocks” series, “All or Nothing” follows teams through an entire season rather than just training camp and preseason. The show is narrated by Emmy-award winning actor Jon Hamm.
The show’s producers probably got a much different story from the 2017 Cowboys than what they expected going in, but it may make for even better television. Dallas was a team on the rise following their 13-3 season in 2016 and narrow loss in the playoffs. “All or Nothing” may have been hoping to capture the storied franchise’s return to Super Bowl glory with its new stars.
Instead, Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension and prolonged legal fight will no doubt dominate the narrative. It should also provide new glimpses into how Dak Prescott interacts with and leads teammates, as well as how he coped with the struggles of his sophomore season.
It wasn’t all bad, of course. DeMarcus Lawrence’s emergence as a defensive star, Jaylon Smith’s return to the field, and the solid play from several rookies will be positive storylines.
To be sure, 2017 is not a season that some Cowboys fans will want to relive. However, we always enjoy the inside look that series like these offer. With NFL Films being behind the project, we can be sure that they had as much access as anyone can get.
The show can be streamed off Amazon beginning Friday, April 27th. That’s Day 2 of the NFL Draft, though, so I’m sure most us will get to it the following week.
